Funicular Santiago

Attention! Consider that:

Transport services to and from the National Zoo are suspended, until further notice

Inaugurated in 1925 by President Arturo Alessandri Palma. It joins Plaza Caupolicán (Pío Nono entrance) with the Summit of San Cristobal Hill.

Its first station, shaped like a medieval tower, was built with stone cut from the same hill by the architect Luciano Kulczewski. This was declared a National Historical Monument on November 16, 2000, considering the value of its complex cable transportation system, in addition to its importance as a heritage element of the city of Santiago de Chile.
